Art of the Comic Book is a beginner-level workshop for anyone wanting to learn comic creation or build a sequential art portfolio. Open to creative writers, graphic artists, fine artists, and anyone developing skills for graphic novels.

New to comics? Start with Quick Comic (uses basic supplies you already own).
Building a portfolio? Focus on Folk Tale and Coda (presentation-ready work).
Assignment Rules
All assignments due at the beginning of class on the designated date. Late work accepted up to one week after due date for half credit. Assignments may not be submitted electronically except by prior arrangement. All writing assignments must be typed.
Beginner Level
Accessible to all skill levels. Focus on storytelling fundamentals and basic technique.
Intermediate Level
Building technique and exploring different approaches to comics creation.
Advanced Level (Portfolio Quality)
Showcase assignments producing presentation-ready work suitable for art school applications or professional submissions.
